It's been another huge success at the Vail America Days 4th of July festivities and and I am so thankful to have been able to return to my hometown to celebrate. Years of celebrating the 4th of July on the beaches of California, on the Mississippi in Wisconsin and this year I realized that you just can't top the 4th of July in the Rockies. The small town feel, the beautiful setting, the local shops and charming atmosphere have fused the 4th of July and Vail together in my mind. After being away for the last few years, I was ecstatic to witness the unbelievable Salute to the USA in Avon, Colorado's biggest fireworks show.
And then there was the parade... We were fortunate enough to watch the parade, whose theme stuck true to Made in America, from a perfect view from the Gateway office by the INternational Bridge with morning munchies and refreshments. Fire engines, candy, marching bands, the local dance team, elaborate floats and local celebrities as well as the perfect weather all contributed to making this year's celebration one of the best I can remember. You can go far and wide to celebrate America's birthday but for some reason, there's nothing like the 4th of July in Vail. I was reminded of it this year and will not be forgetting it anytime soon. Happy Birthday, America. And Vail, I love you.
