The Vail Epic Pass is back!!

September 25th, 2009 Judd Babcock Posted in Vail, Vail Epic Pass, Vail Real Estate, Vail Valley trends and statistics, vail property Comments Off

For the second year in a row, Vail Resorts is again offering the Epic Pass to not only locals but for anyone who wants to ski the five best mountains in the West. For only $579.00 Vail offers unlimited days of skiing with no blackouts at the five mountains they own(Vail, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Breckenridge, Heavenly Valley). Most people, when hearing about this incredible deal, will find it hard to believe, but this is the second year and word does get around. Most ski areas sell their unlimited season passes for anywhere from $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 per year, and with daily tickets costing close to $100.00 per day, it only takes 6 days to break even with an Epic Pass.

In today’s paper, the CEO announced that, although lift ticket revenue was down by 8.4%, the revenue from season pass sales was up by 14% over last year, due entirely from sales of the Epic Pass. The overall earnings for the publicly traded company were down by 52% from 2008, which was not unexpected due to the economy. The biggest hit came in the lodging side of the business and Vail has announced it plans to offer a lot of new lodging deals for the coming season.

In addition to the Epic Pass, there are some other signs of optimism in the real estate area. In downtown Vail, the Solaris, the Four Seasons and the Ritz Carlton all are seeing a lot more interest over last years slow season. Here in Edwards, Gateway has experienced a lot of new clients coming back into the market. Revenue for the second half of the year has already exceeded the first half, and a lot of new clients are coming out to find some very attractive deals in the area.

Please call me, Judd Babcock, for more information on the opportunities popping up on a regular basis these days. The recovery in real estate starts as people begin to realize how many properties are still out there at aggresively reduced prices.

Born Free set to Ride in Vail 11/21/08

November 20th, 2008 Jill Hopkins Posted in Adventures & Lifestyle, Lionshead, Vail, Vail Epic Pass, ski Vail Comments Off

Vail mountain opens for the 08-09 winter season at 9 a.m. tommorrow morning.  Many excited skiiers and boarders will be present in Lionshead.  The buzz is in the air.  Last year we had a similar scenario,  pretty dry until the first week in December and then we just got pounded.

It is a great time to book those last minute trips to the mountains.  There are so many great deals out there.  Epic pass sales were extended until the 1st of December.  Vail Snow Daze event tickets are on sale now.  December 8-14  will consist of many great venues including Big Head Todd and The Monsters/Leftover Salomon.  All of those events are always magical, outdoor venues especially while it is snowing.

Vail Epic Pass and Parking

April 14th, 2008 Gateway Land & Development Posted in Vail Epic Pass Comments Off

Parking an issue with Epic Pass

Where will all the skiers park?

Epic Pass is the best deal for a long time, so where is everyone going to park?  Having a valet parking space, now valued at $275,000 is looking better.  After skiing the last day with amazing snow, I drove home past three miles of frontage road parking.  How is is the Epic Pass going to make this issue better?   Wait until next season and the frontage road will extend 5 miles out to East and West Vail.  The skiers will come, but where will they park?  Lionshead, East Vail, West Vail, Minturn?

We have a great mountain, but we need to make it a great experience.  When skiers drive in traffic from Denver for 2 to 4 hours and have to park 5 miles out, is it really going to work?

Perhaps, finding that space to call home with a parking spot is the answer. You can actually find a place to park and sleep in Vail for under $375,00.  If you would like to find that space, and take the free bus, call Teri Lester 970-376-0779 or tlester@gatewayland.com
