Crossroads Conflict Continues in Vail
Petitioners have garnered necessary signatures
Drama continues for the Crossroads project, now called Solaris, as petitioners appear to have the required number of signatures to take the issue to the voters. The voters already spoke, it would seem, when they voted out 2 Town of Vail council memebrs who opposed the redevelopment. But certain members in the community feel the project is too big, even though some neighboring buildings’ heights are within 11 feet of Solaris’s height.
Developer Peter Knobel’s project has seen more attention than you would expect within a community based on development. Vail was a pristine valley about 40 years ago, and since Vail’s inception as a ski resort, that pristine nature has consistently been eroded. Don’t get me wrong, Vail is an amazing ski resort and community, one that I’m proud to call home. But to find untouched mountain splendor, put on your hiking boots or get on your mountain bike. The ship has sailed with regards to keeping Vail as it was. The Vail community will benefit from the amenities provided by Solaris, as will vacationers with children looking for more activities for their little ones in a town that currently caters to drinking age patrons.
Let’s move forward, as I’m sure the town of Vail voters will, if this makes it to the ballot. If you would like to discuss details of the Solaris project, or learn more about real estate here in the Vail Valley, please contact Doug Schwartz at (970)926-6777 or at dougs@gatewayland.com
