Edwards Condominiums On Hold

Land Use Decision Necessary

Whether you like the proposed Edwards Condominiums or not, the project is now on hold until a land use issue is resolved.  There is a question as to if the land above the Edwards Corner is able to be built on, or if it should stay open space.  The developer (Remonov & Co) hopes to build high-end condos (starting around $2M) designed by Daniel Libeskind.  (world renowned architect)

The designs I have seen are not in keeping with the current feel of the community.  The developer has said the building should be the focal point of Edwards, where I see the surrounding landscape as the focus.  And from most parts of Edwards, the 4-5 story building will dominate the view, not complement the mountains in the background.  (you can’t see the Sawatch Range unless you’re up by I-70, somewhat misleading from their rendering in the attached article)

And I doubt local buyers will be the ones to spend $2M to $3M for a condo.  It would seem to appeal to the out-of-town buyer.  I have no problem with a project being built in this spot, but have it blend with the community and the surroundings, not overwhelm it.

Please feel free to call or email anytime to discuss this project, or the Eagle County real estate market in general.
