Fire Station Finally Coming To West Vail?

Wendy's out fire station in.

It been talked about, its been on and off the Town’s agenda since 1981, 25 years, and now it appears West Vail will be getting a fire station.  After being approached by the owner’s of Wendy’s the Town has been in negotiations with the owner’s for the past several months.  The Town will be asked to approve the $2 million purchase at it’s next meeting.

The Town of Vail purchased 3.6 acres in 2002 above the Wendy’s property with the idea of putting a fire station on the site along with residential, recreation and open space.  However, those in the know all agree the Wendy’s site is a much better choice because the site provides better access to Vail roads and I-70.  Vail’s Fire Chief John Gulick, long time proponent of a fire station in West Vail, is cautiously optomistic the Town will approve the purchase.

Assuming the purchase gets the green light Wendy’s will lease back the property from the Town of Vail through March of ‘07.
