Up the hill to the south of the metropolis of Edwards the Homestead neighborhood is popular with locals, including myself.? Within walking distance to the downtown movie theater, grocery, restaurants & shops and under 10 minutes drive to Arrowhead for skiing, Homestead is a favorite spot for those wanting convenience (don?t worry if you run out of milk), access to night life (walk home after a few drinks) along with quiet (no i-70 noise).? The community wraps around the 37,000 square foot Homestead Court Club, a fitness and community center owned by the residents of the community.? The court club offers indoor and outdoor tennis, squash and racquetball courts, fitness area, indoor pool and hot tub, steam and saunas, a kid pool and daycare. There?s a Montessori pre-school on the property and an outdoor basketball court.? The beauty of the Club, which all Homestead residents pay into (under $95 per household) is that only about ? of the residents use it so you pay less than the other fitness centers and don?t have to fight the crowds.?
For outdoor lovers, Homestead has an intertwining series of hiking paths.? The longest trail starts at the top of the neighborhood, travels up above Lake Creek and over to Arrowhead.? This trail is a favorite with my husband and brother-in-law for mountain biking up Arrowhead and back down home.? There are several pocket parks for the kids and places to run the dogs.
Properties in Homestead include condos, townhouses, duplexes and single family homes, some with amazing views west downvalley, southwest to New York Mountain or north over Cordillera Valley Club and Singletree.? Historically, Homestead has been a neighborhood of primary residences; recently it?s seen an increase in second homeowners looking for, what else: location - a family oriented community with easy access to Edwards' city life and the Vail Valley?s attractions.? ?
