Getting to Know the Vail Valley: Singletree

A sunny, dryland surrounded by sagebrush, Singletree, is a refreshing change of scenery from the rest of the area’s more mountainous landscape. This dry setting is the inspiration for the southwestern architecture found across the hillside. The neighborhood flows up the hillside, offering varying elevations of amazing views to Vail’s back bowls, Arrowhead, New York Mountain and stunning sunsets.

My favorite part of Singletree is Balata restaurant in the Sonnenalp Golf Club. The outdoor patio has amazing views and is the most beautiful spot in the valley for a wedding (we had our reception there). The Sonnenalp Golf Club, which boasts an 18 hole championship course, and its clubhouse are the center point of the neighborhood. The club offers outdoor swimming and tennis and the community is filled with parks and bike paths.

Singletree, legally known as Berry Creek Ranch, has five filings of properties. The first 2 include condos and townhomes, clustered around the golf course and club house, single family homes and duplexes. Up high in the Fourth Filing is an area called Apoloosa Ridge, whose building guidelines require a SantaFe style architecture. June Creek flows through the Third Filing, which is a access point for mountain biking and hiking trails through public land.
