| | July 19, 2008 | | Ranch at Cordillera is in full bloom | Cordillera is truely a magical community for all seasons. Overflowing with outstanding ammenities and wildlife, it is truely an experience for any outdoor enthusiast. Taking a walk in the Ranch is always a treat. I have a family of wild turkey's brooding along the path at my listing in the tall timbers of Timber Draw. There is a family of elk schussing around enjoying the vast amounts of green grasses and such that summertime has to offer. With sales and action remaing steady, 64 West Timber Draw is a magical stop with the feeling of being in a "tree-house" nestled in the tall quaking aspens. For the lover of fine botanicals and landscape, the Cordillera Metropolitan District does an exceptional job of maintaining all the grounds to maximize the outdoor summer experience, placing thousands of florals about. | | July 07, 2008 | | The popular one stop town, Edwards, has it all: shopping, dining, businesses, parks and recreation | Used to be, anything west of Vail was considered “down valley”. Now, the end of “up valley” is Edwards. Perfectly located halfway between Eagle (airport) and Vail, this community truly is the heart of the Vail Valley and has the largest population in the county. With a plethora of hiking and biking trails, ponds and parks, and great school options, Edwards is popular among locals and visitors alike. Running along the Eagle River, downtown Edwards boasts some of the valley’s best restaurants and shopping. The Riverwalk offers a movie theater, grocery store, over 25 restaurants and close to 100 shops and services; there’s no need to go anywhere else. Edwards’ warmer climate lends to its popularity with outdoor enthusiasts. You’ll find golf, fly fishing, rafting, kayaking, hiking and biking, sometimes right out your back door. Freedom Park in the Miller Ranch neighborhood is the home of a skateboard park, a dog pond, a big kids park and a sports field for soccer, lacrosse, baseball and football. Outside of Edwards’ core you’ll find more unique neighborhoods including Singletree, Old Edwards Estates, Miller Ranch, South Forty, Homestead, Lake Creek, Brett Ranch, Squaw Creek and Cordillera. They offer every type, size, shape, age, of home available. | | June 19, 2008 | | Ultra exclusive and luxurious Bachelor Gulch is the mid-point of Beaver Creek’s village-to-village skiing | Nestled between Beaver Creek and Arrowhead, the secluded Bachelor Gulch village is the middle point of Beaver Creek Mountain’s Village-to-Village skiing. Surrounded by 1,400 acres of open space and ski terrain, the master plan of the community creates ultimate privacy and views with minimal impact on the natural environment. This is where you’ll find the peace and serenity of the mountains that made you come to Colorado. The best part is that you’re still within close proximity to all amenities offered by the luxurious resorts nearby, including gondola and chairlift access to take you down to Avon and the Westin Resort and Spa. The impressive Ritz-Carlton became the new anchor to the Bachelor Gulch community, and quickly won over us locals with its sunny patio; the perfect place for a mid-ski drink. While most of us can’t afford frequent dinners at the delicious but pricey Spago, we love to treat ourselves to a life of luxury with a glass of wine and apps. A series of skier bridges and tunnels throughout the community allow a majority of the single family homes, mountain lodges, condos and home sites to have ski in ski out access. Restricted commercial development within this ultra-exclusive community creates a private and intimate setting with amazing panoramic views of the Gore Range and valley floor. For more information on Bachelor Gulch or other Vail Valley real estate contact Karen Gilbert at 970-331-1482 or karen@gatewayland.com, or visit my website www.karensellsvail.com. | Topic Tags: Arrowhead, Avon, Bachelor Gulch Avon, Bachelor Gulch Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch CO, Bachelor Gulch Mountain, Bachelor Gulch skiing, Bachelor Gulch Village, Beaver Creek, Colorado skiing, Ritz Carlton, Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch, Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch, Ritz Colorado, Ritz Vail, Spago, village to village skiing, Westin Resort and Spa, Westin River Front Resort and Spa |

| | June 12, 2008 | | Beaver Creek is full of fun with Village to Village skiing and unlimited summer festivals | Previously known as Vail’s little sister, Beaver Creek is a luxurious five star, four season resort that caters to all, including families. Home to North America’s only European-style Village-to-Village skiing (or biking), the resort’s diversity appeals to Grouse’s bump hammers, Polly’s Plunge back country hikers and groomer lovers alike. The reason I ski Beaver Creek has nothing to do with the skiing, (which I personally prefer 2nd to Vail simply because of Vail’s massive variety), and all to do with parking. On a quick ski day, I love that you can park for free in Beaver Creek’s parking deck for 2 hours, which is plenty of time to waste myself doing laps on Grouse. Locals take advantage of Arrowhead’s free parking and Village-to-Village skiing to ski over to the Beav for the day and then back to Arrowhead to meet friends back at the Broken Arrow for après. But Beaver Creek offers much more than skiing. Old world charm adds to the cosmopolitan allure of this small village that has won many national and international awards for innovative design and outstanding service. Beaver Creek has a plethora of unique boutique shops and restaurants to enjoy while walking around the completely heated and snow free village (read: you can wear those cute shoes that wouldn’t make it past your front door in Vail. Beaver Creek’s performing arts center, the Vilar Center for the Arts, boasts the best acoustic sound in the state and a year-round outdoor ice skating rink provides fun for all. During the summer, Beaver Creek hosts a multitude of festivals, shows, concerts and food contests. Blues and BBQ, the Arts Festival, weekly culinary expos and weekly outdoor concerts – there is something to do almost every day. Friday afternoons on the lawn behind the Park Hyatt is a great way to wear out your kids with free pony rides, free mountain bike demos, free fly fishing clinics, kids’ crafts, live music, water activities, volleyball, free smores, free popcorn and snow cones. Golfers will enjoy the Robert Trent Jones course at the Beaver Creek Golf Club, For the home buyers, Beaver Creek has a prestigious address that is the definition of luxury, privacy and exceptional attention to detail. Whether it be a ski-in ski-out condo or an 8 bedroom room single family home on the slopes, this Village has it all. | | June 05, 2008 | | Quiet and sun baked, Wildridge offers breathtaking mountain views | This week I’ve taken a client from Vermont out to look at houses in Edwards, Ealge-Vail and Wildridge. On a deck in Singletree, enjoying spectacular views of Arrowhead, he said to me “I guess you get used to the highway noise” and as every local would say “what highway noise?” Yes, it’s the reason Aspenites like to snub their noses to Vail…it’s on the interstate. We enjoy the interstate because it takes us to Denver in 90 minutes for a day of shopping, to see a football game, go to the zoo, or to just get out of town for a day. It quickly takes us to places like Glenwood Springs and Aspen and, like it or not, it makes more room for the Vail Valley to grow and spread. It’s such a part of our lives we don’t even notice it’s quiet hum (true - in some neighborhoods it’s quieter than in others!) until someone from out of town points it out to us. So, my client from Vermont and I moved on to Eagle-Vail and he remarked on the soft lull that most of us don’t hear “I guess everyone just lives with it, huh?” And the home owner, when I told him, said, as any local would “what highway noise?” You’ll be happy to know that my friend from Vermont did find a quiet neighborhood, at the top of the hillside to the north of Avon called Wildridge, where you don’t have to get used to the highway because you’ll be too busy enjoying birds chirping and amazing mountain and sunset views. This sun baked community hosts a wide variety of condos, townhouses, duplexes and single-family homes, many of which have in your face views of Beaver Creek Mountain, New York Mountain and the Sawatch Mountain Range. Nestled against the White River National Forest, Wildridge offers great hiking and biking trails. 10 minutes to Beaver Creek and 15 to Vail, Wildridge is a popular location with locals and second homeowners wanting easy access to the mountain. For more information on Wildridge or other Vail Valley real estate contact Karen Gilbert at 970-331-1482 or karen@gatewayland.com, or visit my website www.karensellsvail.com. | Topic Tags: Beaver Creek views, Mountain Views, New York Mountain Views, Vail Biking, Vail Hiking, White river National Forest, Wildridge Avon, Wildridge biking, Wildridge CO, Wildridge hiking, Wildridge real estate |
