Fly Fishing Fun
Beginner fly fisherman has a great time
After living in the Vail Valley for over 12 years, I figured it was time to learn how to fly fish. The only question that now remains is, "Why did I wait so long?"
I have had the good fortune of hooking or catching fish almost everytime I’ve been on the water. It helps to have friends who know what they’re doing to give good advice. After one such friend gave me a rod, and my wife gave me a reel for my birthday, I’m starting to acquire the necessary gear.
The peace and serenity of fishing in the beautiful Vail Valley is only rivaled by the excitement of hooking a native cut-throat or rainbow trout. That being said, the challenges of fishing; the tangles, the lost flies, the snags etc. are very frustrating. Fly fishing teaches patience.
After finally discovering the joys of fly fishing, I feel compelled to encourage everyone to try it. Just don’t do it at my fishing hole!
