Second Homeowner sales in the Vail Valley average 49%
Almost half of all home sales in Eagle County are vacation home purchases
Americans snapping up second homes as investments or vacation properties accounted for four out of every 10 sales of existing homes last year, a record that helped drive the real estate market to new highs, according to a report being released today by the National Association of Realtors. Here in the Vail valley second home owners account for 49% of the sales and in Summit county it is as high as 67%. Most of these sales can be attributed to the baby boomers who are entering the peak of their financial careers. Many of these second homes will become primary residences when they retire because of the quiality of life in the Vail valley.
