Spring Back To Vail

Live music and on mountain events mark the end of the ski season

Spring time in the Rockies means great skiing, nice weather, and end of the season parties.  This year Vail has really stepped up the activities to celebrate the completion of another great ski season.  The most notable addition is almost nightly free concerts in Vail Village.  Over the last 2 weeks of the season several musical acts will play Vail Village, including local funksters Little Hercules, sax virtuso Maceo Parker, and the grammy award winning reggae artist Toots and the Maytals.

April 16th and 17th are the last days for skiing in Vail and they will be marked in deserving fashion by hosting the World Pond Skimming Championships on the 16th.  This event features all manner of creatively costumed skiers and snowboarders attempting to cross a 25 to 30 yard pond of refreshingly cold 40 degree water on equipment ill suited to this purpose.  This event which began two years ago is free to the public and and is about as entertaining as anything I have ever seen in this town.  Direclty following the pond skimming the world famous Snoop Dogg will make his first ever Vail conert appearence at Ford Park with rap new comer The Game opening the show.   The festivites wrap up on the 17th with Vail offering $10 lift tickets for the last day of skiing.

All in all, spring in Vail is a time like no other and this year Vail truly puts itself on the map as the place you want to be to bid a fond farewell to another great ski season.
