The Vail Valley Is The Only Place To Be For The Fourth of July.

If you like the outdoors, the Vail Valley is the place to be for the Fourth of July weekend.  There are lots and lots of things for the whole family to do, most of which are fee.  Always a must on the 4th is the parade held in Vail which starts a 10 am at Gold Peak and ends in Lionshead.  Get there early as parking fills up quickly.  I suggest you find a spot around Vendetta’s if you are in the Village or Bart & Yeti’s if you are in the Lionshead area.  From these locations you can not only enjoy the parade but you enjoy your favorite beverage.  The food is great, the beer is cold, and are great “local” hangouts.

There is a major lacrosse tourney in town which ends on Sunday.  The Lionshead Gondola will be operating from 10 am till 9pm except Sunday when it closes at 4 pm.  The gondola will take you to Eagle’s Nest where there is dining and entertainment and great place to hike or ride a bike from.  You can ride the gondola for free after 4 pm on Saturday.

There will be ongoing street entertainment all weekend.  Friday is the Lionshead Family Afternoon Club from 5 to 8 pm which offers lot’s of kid activities, performers, not to mention cocktails; something for everyone.  Let’s not forget all the biking trails, fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting and the numerous Vail Valley golf courses all readily accessible.

What about fireworks?  The Town of Avon will be hosting a major fireworks display, the largest in the Colorado Rockies, on Firday the 3d, the Town of Vail, the Town of Eagle and Beaver Creek to follow with their displays on the 4th.

So, pack up the SUV or what ever and for not a whole lot of money spend your holiday in the Vail Valley.
