New Terminology for Home Owners

As trends change, so does the vocabulary:

Fractional Ownership is a new type of interval ownership, the buyers own a fraction of the real estate.

Part-Time Resident is a second home owner.

Splitters are people who spend half their time in one place, half in another.

Double Nesters are people who own, live and work in two fully-equipped homes

McMansions are large homes on small lots and often don’t fit with the surrounding houses, can be a Log Mansion with giant timbers

According to a 2004 study on second home conducted by Northwest Colorado Council of Governments, 68 percent of all second homes in Eagle, Summit, Pitkin and Grand Counties are smaller than 2,000 square feet.
