Vail has Over 14 Feet!! What A Year For Snow!!
Vail and Beaver Creek: Best Skiing in Years
Those of us that live here in the Vail Valley are always paying attention to the weather. Sitting on a bar stool, or in any high dollar restaurant in town, you are likely to overhear a discussion about the current weather. And right now, everyone is extolling the great snow we’ve been receiving.
Vail has been dumped on with over 14 feet, resulting in a 50" base and is now 99% open. Beaver Creek has had a great year as well, if not slightly less prolific than her neighbor to the east. Beaver Creek is recording a 38" base and is 91% open. The skiing has been absolutely amazing, with lots of powder runs and few skiers to compete for it. There is nothing quite like a powder day at Vail in December before the crowds get here.
The tree skiing has been outstanding as well. The coverage is so good that even our friends, the free-heelers, are venturing into the trees this early in the season. The ‘05-’06 ski season is shaping up to be one of the best in recent memory. So grab your skis or snowboard and get out there and make some turns.
