Vail Ski School Rates Astonish Local Vail Residents
What is Vail Resorts thinking by raising local children’s ski-school lessons from $51 to $139 per lesson?
Are they looking for another reason for local residents to throw in the towel and relocate to another area?
Many parents work two and even three jobs to be able to live here and enjoy the mountain. They want to stay in the Vail Valley so their children can enjoy the outdoors and great skiing? This huge price increase will make it impossible for some parents to send their child or children to ski school.
So what is the catch? Work for your benefits-ah, work for Vail Resorts part time and the lessons will cost only $49, a benefit to part-time employees. Now we are talking about filling all the jobs that the former green card residents were filling and since Vail Resorts missed getting their quota of out of country employees, they figured out a new way. Why can’t they just give Vail residents a break on ski school?
Parents who wanted to send their children to ski school will now have to add a 4th part-time job to their schedule, just to be able to comply with Vail Resorts new policy. Does this create good will or resentment?
Perhaps, the parents who know how to ski will form their own little groups and teach the little ones to ski.
The other option Vail Resorts is offering is a “Six Pack” that gives a child six lessons for $579, which works out to $96.50 per lesson or “Form your own Team,” another kid’s ski-school program for locals, for $579.
Locals – it is time to express your opinion.
