Vail's Team Beyond Cancer inspires cancer survivors and the Team will participate in the Vail Teva games this June. The Team Beyond Cancer members were First Descent camp participants and?are ready to?take on the Colorado whitewater rivers in a kayak to prove that cancer, no matter how aggressive, dormant, advanced, or invasive, will never be stronger than they are.
?Since 2001, First Descents has utilized whitewater kayaking and other outdoor adventure sports to promote emotional, psychological, and physical healing for over 500 young adults with cancer. The Team Beyond Cancer hopes to raise at least $20,000 this season, enough to send 20 cancer survivors to camp. The camp challenges the participants to overcome the fear and insecurity of living a normal life.? After cancer patients often hear, "be careful, don't push yourself too hard."? After First Descent camp, participants realize the river treats everyone equally and cancer survivors become stronger, just knowing they can do what other young adults can do. The courses are designed to be fun, safe, and emotionally healing. The goal is to empower and build selfconfidence in cancer survivors.
This is a great way to help cancer survivors help others:?
